CESC Player Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures

Member Players Code of Conduct

I will play and have FUN. Soccer should be FUN!

• I will be on time and prepared for practice and games with the right uniform and equipment.

 • I will work hard to improve my skills.

 • I will learn teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline.

• I will be a team player. I will get along with my teammates and support them on and off the field.

Soccer is a team sport and Cape Soccer succeeds with a ‘One Club One Town’ philosophy.

• I will respect and listen to my coach, my teammates, our parents, opponents and officials.

• I will learn the rules and play by them. I will be a good sport and never argue with an official’s decision.

• I will not engage in any form of abusive behavior (physical, verbal, mental) toward any other person.

• I understand my rights to play in an environment free from harassment and/or abuse in any form. I will report any such incidents immediately to my coach and parent.

Misconduct Disciplinary Procedure for Member Players

CESC recognizes that kids will be active and energetic and that coaches are aware of that as well. There are occasionally moments where that energy leads to behavior not supportive of the Players Code of Conduct but can be resolved in the moment and does not warrant moving forward with the disciplinary procedures. The procedures are for those moments that go beyond that or become repetitive and destructive to the positive environment CESC wishes to provide. Misconduct may occur both on and off the field, in practice or game, and include but is not limited to carding offenses, physical altercations, verbal and mental abuse, and disruptive behavior to the execution of practices and games for members of the team or club.

In the event an incident of Misconduct by a member player occurs and deemed valid upon review by the coaches of the member player and 2 members of CESC board, the following steps will be initiated.

 1. 1st Occurrence (Ask Phase):The coach, player and a parent of player and respective travel director or President/VP will have discussion outlining the incident, understanding what occurred and why, how to deal with such an incident and reiterating behaviors of good teammates. Player will be informed that they may miss a practice and or game if future incidents occur.

2. 2nd Occurrence (Tell Phase): The coach, player and parent of player and respective travel director and President/ VP will have a discussion with member player. At this discussion the player will be informed of their continued misconduct and that they will have to miss a practice and/or game (at the discretion of the parties present).

3. 3rd Occurrence (Dismiss Phase): If a third occurrence happens, the coach player, and parent of player along with the President or Vice President will have a meeting to inform the player and family that they are dismissed from the team for the remainder of the season. Such an occurrence will not preclude the player from participation the following season. However, such an occurrence in successive seasons will begin immediately at the 2nd Occurrence (Tell Phase) as said member would be deemed a repeat offender.

If Misconduct occurs during a game, the offending player will follow CESC disciplinary guidelines as well as any additional discipline/sanctions issued by Soccer Maine or US Soccer based upon severity of offense. CESC reserves the right to increase the discipline based on the level and nature of misconduct exhibited.
